WebApr 21, 2008 · The Mustang 8.8 rear axle began calling for it somewhere around 1999- 2001, after using standard 75W90 and 80W90 for over 15 years. I have never heard of so many 8.8 bearing failures until they started filling them with the new stuff. There is no reason to find wet rust in a rear axle. I can abolutely see why it is not recommened in the front axle.
